Youth Urge Akingbade to Step Aside for Fresh Representation in Imeko-Afon

Youth representatives in Imeko-Afon Local Government have made a passionate appeal to Hon. Jemili Adigun Akingbade, urging him to reconsider his reported intention to seek a fourth term in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
In an open letter released on Wednesday, the group praised Akingbade’s long-standing contributions to the development of the local government since its creation in 1996. They highlighted his political journey from councillor under the old Egbado North, to Local Government Caretaker Chairman, Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission, and his three consecutive terms in the State Assembly.
While acknowledging his achievements and leadership, the youths appealed for generational inclusion, calling on the lawmaker to step aside and allow younger aspirants the opportunity to represent the constituency.
They emphasized that his legacy would be better strengthened through mentorship and guidance rather than continued electoral contests.
The group also cautioned the veteran politician against advisers allegedly encouraging a fourth-term bid, stating that such counsel may not reflect the broader interest of the people.
In addition, the youths called on Governor Dapo Abiodun, Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), and other key political stakeholders in Ogun State to intervene and support the push for youth representation in Imeko-Afon.
Reaffirming their respect for Akingbade, the group assured him that his influence and relevance would remain intact, describing him as a father figure whose guidance remains invaluable to the next generation.
