IPOKIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT HOSTS OGUN STATE LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE COMMISSION ON WORKING VISIT

Ipokia Local Government played host to the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission team led by Barrister Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo, Chairman of the Commission, during a working visit to the council. The delegation comprised the Permanent Secretary, all the Commissioners and Directors of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, and our own Hon. Azeez Oshunbiyi Olatunde, who is also a member of the Commission.
The purpose of the visit was to hold tripartite meetings with various arms of the local government. The sessions were conducted in three phases and were generally adjudged to be highly fruitful and impactful.

In the first phase, the Commission met with the political functionaries of the local government including the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary to the Local Government, Supervisors and Special Advisers. The Chairman of the Commission emphasised the importance of maintaining a clear communication structure between the political and administrative arms. She explained that all directives from political functionaries should be channelled through the Chairman of the Local Government to the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), who would then relay such communications to the Heads of Departments (HODs). This process, she noted, prevents friction and promotes smooth governance.

The second phase featured an interactive session with the HOLGA and HODs. In his remarks, the HOLGA Mr. Senapon Emmanuel Pogbe, lauded the cordial working relationship between the political leadership and administrative staff of Ipokia Local Government. He also commended the Council Chairman for his remarkable efforts in improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the local government through innovative and transparent measures.

The third phase involved a general meeting with all staff of the council. In her address, Barrister Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo praised the workers for their dedication and discipline. She reaffirmed the Ogun State Government’s commitment under the leadership of His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON, to the welfare of local government workers, noting that the state has maintained regular and prompt salary payments since the inception of the present administration.
The Chairman of Ipokia Local Government, Johnson Akohomeh Avoseh, reiterated his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, stating that the council has begun clearing backlogs of pending claims. He assured staff that welfare and motivation will continue to receive top priority under his leadership.

He also expressed his profound appreciation to Barrister Olivia Olubukunola Onabanjo for her exemplary leadership and commitment to strengthening local government administration in Ogun State. He commended her for leading by example and for the positive reforms initiated under her tenure. He further extended his appreciation to all the Commissioners and Directors of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission for their dedication and continuous support to local government councils across the state.

The Chairman also thanked the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun, CON, for his unwavering commitment to grassroots development and for prioritising the welfare of local government workers. He described the Governor as a visionary leader whose people-oriented policies have continued to promote effective governance and sustainable development across the state.

The visit of the Ogun State Local Government Service Commission to Ipokia Local Government was successful and productive, strengthening collaboration, enhancing communication among stakeholders and reaffirming the government’s dedication to effective service delivery and staff welfare.
